Additional Information
Information on the current situation for incoming student at h_da (COVID-19)
The Hessen State Government and h_da do their best to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and flatten the curve. We are following the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Robert Koch Institute.
1. Start of lecture period postponed:
The start of the lecture period has been postponed until 20 April for all universities in Hessen. Classes will most likely be taught online and there will probably be no in-person classes. At this point, it is impossible to tell whether all classes will taught online, hence, we cannot guarantee that the classes you’d like to attend will, in fact, be offered.
Postponing the start of the lecture period could mean that the end of the semester will be postponed as well. If this is a problem for you, either because you need to be back in your home country by then or the visa you’ve been granted does no longer cover the entire period of your stay, please let us know. We will do our best to find an individual solution for each and everyone of you.
2. General information and protective measures: Please make sure you wash your hands regularly and thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (that’s about the length of the “Happy birthday to you” song when sung slowly). Using desinfectants is not necessary. Don’t touch your face without washing your hands first. When coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth and nose with your flexed elbow or a tissue and do not reuse tissues. Also, greet people by smiling or waving to them rather than by shaking hands, hugging or kissing them. In general, you should try to keep a distance of 1 or 2 meters to others.
As of 23 March, being outside as part of a group of people is no longer allowed in Germany until further notice to contain the spread of the virus. Make sure that when you’re outside, you are on your own or in company of one other person at most. Museums, theaters, opera houses and other cultural places as well as schools and kindergartens will be closed as well.

Due to the risk to be infected with the virus having been declared as high by the Robert Koch Institute and a general academic uncertainty about the spring 2020 semester, h_da recommends you to cancel or postpone your study abroad stay with us. If you want to postpone your stay with us, we will be happy to reserve a spot for you in the winter 2020/21 or spring 2021 semester.
If you have a question, please turn to Marina Zielke: incoming.int@h-da.de.
As of 25 March, h_da hopes that the winter 2020/21 semester will take place as planned so please make sure that you are nominated to study with us as an exchange semester. We will be flexible about our regular nomination deadline (15 April) and application deadline (1 May), i.e. late nominations and applications will be accepted if possible.
