Erasmus+ International Staff Week
Topic 2026: Ecological Sustainability in Higher Education - "Ecological Sustainability in Action"
30th November to 4th December 2026
Darmstadt, situated in the Rhine-Main region and known as the ‘City of Science’, is a wonderful place to experience German culture and get to know colleagues from all over the world.
This year, we will be focusing on the topic of sustainability at universities and discussing how far we have come in implementing various approaches, as well as sharing – or even developing – ideas on how universities can become even more committed to various aspects of sustainability. The event will be rounded off with a cultural programme and delicious "Glühwein".
Programme at a Glance
During the Erasmus+ International Week "Ecological Sustainability in Action", you will be able to get to know sustainability at h_da and share your experience through formats such as workshops, presentations and excursions in the following areas:
- studies and teaching
- research
- operations of universities (management, administration, etc.)

Accomodation
The reservation and cost of accommodation are the responsibility of each participant.
We recommend that you wait to reserve your accommodation until you have received your participation confirmation for the Staff Week.
We have collected some options for hotels in Darmstadt. Please contact us and we will provide a list for you.
Good to know
- This opportunity is open to all teaching and non-teaching staff alike.
- The entire Erasmus+ International Week will be in English.
- Because there is a focus on sustainability, we will give preference to experts in the field.
- Some activities are interactive, so please come ready to participate.
Costs
There is no fee for this event, however, participants will be expected to cover their own travel, accommodation and daily costs. Please check with your International Office to see whether you are eligible for Erasmus funding through your home institution.
If you work at an institution with no access to the Erasmus+ Programme, please check if your international office can provide you with funds.
