Attention: For the application for exchange programs with South Korea, Taipei and the USA, a DAAD language certificate on B2 level is already required for the internal application deadline (partner universities and “Hessische Landesprogramme”). You can take the language certificate free of charge at the h_da Language Center. For the “Hessische Landesprogramme”, a TOEFL or IELTS certificate must be submitted by the end of January if the application is successful. The costs are about 220 EUR.
Notes for all partner universities: You can also inquire about remaining places after the respective deadlines. However, after the deadline it is possible that there are no places left and/or the application deadlines at the partner universities have already expired.
Application procedure and formalities
- 9 to 12 months in advance: You inform yourself on the internet and during office hours about the possibilities of studying abroad and coordinate your choice with the international coordinator of your department.
- 6 to 8 months in advance: You register on MoveON, fill out the "overseas form", print the form and have it signed by the study abroad officer (nomination). You email the signed form to overseas.int@h-da.de. If you find the indication "limited places available" in our interactive world map, please state a second priority.
- Approximately 6 months in advance: After the internal application deadline, you will receive feedback from the h_da International Office within 4 to 6 weeks. If the feedback is positive, you will receive an email with information about the application process at the partner university. If there are limited spots, a cross-departmental selection process may take place. If you do not receive a spot and did not indicate a second priority, you will be informed and can apply for any remaining places.
- 3 to 6 months in advance: Apply separately, on time, and with complete documentation to the partner university. It typically takes 6 to 8 weeks after the partner university’s deadline to receive a final response regarding your study abroad program. Once you have an acceptance letter, you can apply for your visa and book your flights.
- After completing your studies abroad, you should submit an experience report by email within 8 weeks.
