Application procedure and formalities

  1. 9 to 12 months in advance: You inform yourself on the internet and during office hours about the possibilities of studying abroad and coordinate your choice with the international coordinator of your department.
  2. 6 to 8 months in advance: You register on MoveON, fill out the overseas form, print the form and have it signed by the study abroad officer (nomination). You email the signed form to overseas.int@h-da.de. If you find the indication "limited places available" in our interactive world map, please state a second priority.
  3. Approximately 6 months in advance: After the internal application deadline, you will receive feedback from the h_da International Office within 4 to 6 weeks. If the feedback is positive, you will receive an email with information about the application process at the partner university. If there are limited spots, a cross-departmental selection process may take place. If you do not receive a spot and did not indicate a second priority, you will be informed and can apply for any remaining places.
  4. 3 to 6 months in advance: Apply separately, on time, and with complete documentation to the partner university. It typically takes 6 to 8 weeks after the partner university’s deadline to receive a final response regarding your study abroad program. Once you have an acceptance letter, you can apply for your visa and book your flights.
  5. After completing your studies abroad, you should submit an experience report by email within 8 weeks.
