About Visual Design 

Visual Design is a broad three-year programme with specialization tracks in Graphic Design, Illustration Design, Digital Design and Advertising Design. 

The Visual Design programme at LUCA School of Arts warmly invites you to participate in (b)order/disorder, our International Days taking place in Ghent, Belgium.

What is (b)order/disorder?

We believe the best way to get to know each other is by creating something together.
During this two-day event, international colleagues from across Europe come together to:

🎨 Co-create an experimental workshop on Day 1
👩‍🏫 Co-teach that workshop to our students on Day 2
🤝 Exchange ideas, teaching approaches and design perspectives
🌍 Build new connections and future collaborations

Keeping Democracy Strong - Staff and student week

Dates: 5-9 April 2027

In a world where democracies are increasingly under pressure, we must ensure that democracy remains at the very heart of pedagogical and social work. Therefore, VIA University College's department of Social Education invites staff and students from partner universities to join us for a week to explore the theme: 

Keeping Democracy Strong Through Pedagogical and Social Work: Democratic Resilience in Contemporary Europe.

As a visiting lecturer, you will have the opportunity to:

• Share your expertise with students and colleagues from across Europe.
• Explore new perspectives on how to preserve and strengthen democracy within social education and social and pedagogical work.
• Expand your professional network by meeting and making friends.
• Experience the Danish spring and engage in fun and enrichening activities

As a participant, you are expected to deliver two workshops and one lecture during the week. This complies with the Erasmus+ requirement for the number of teaching hours. Co-teaching with a colleague is possible. Requirements for workshops and lecures:

• A workshop (2 hours including a break) includes an introduction to the topic, followed by interactive, hands-on activities which engage the students in learning by doing. Maximum number of participants: 30 students. 
• A lecture (1 hour) is primarily presentation-based but can also include interactive elements. Some lectures take place in our auditorium, allowing for a larger audience. However, the auditorium setting does not support physical activities and movement like a regular classroom. 

The topics of your two workshops can vary or be the same. However, each session should be treated as an independent event - one workshop should not be considered a continuation of another. 

Costs: free; Accommodation, travel expenses, and meals are at your own cost.

Blended Intensive Programme (BIP): Building a Sense of Belonging in Higher Arts Education

Dates:

• virtual kick-off: 15 February 2027, 2-3.30 p.m. (CEST)
• physical attendance week: 1-5 March 2027

In higher education research, sense of belonging is referred to as students’ and staff’s subjective sense of ‘fitting in’, ‘identification with the university community’, in feelings of acceptance, respect and support. A strong sense of belonging is a cornerstone of meaningful learning and professional development. Internationalisation adds a powerful but complex dimension to this.

The aim for the international BIP week is to bring together educators, policy makers and support staff from various institutions, departments, and backgrounds to exchange experiences, co-create strategies, and develop practical tools to foster belonging in art higher education. In the programme, the focus is on 3 areas:

• Inclusive practices – How can we design and deliver teaching that values diverse backgrounds and perspectives? How can we build a safe and creative learning space for all students and staff and build teams and communities?
• Well-being and support structures - How do teaching methods and an organizational culture foster or hinder belonging? How can we ensure learning strategies are inclusive and participatory?
• Quality assurance and belonging - How can we embed belonging into evaluation frameworks? How can Q&A processes support inclusion?

As part of the programme, KABK will also invite colleagues from other institutions to contribute through case studies or interactive workshops that connect to the theme. Please indicate if you're interested in collaborating in the registration form and they will contact you.
